Does anyone know if a very low dose of Seroquel can cause depression (50mg)? med dude accidentally sent over 50mg instead of 25. I use it for sleep. I can cut it, but it doesn't cut well. I have an appointment with him this week, but want to check here first.

I think technically any sedative type drug can give you depression. I’m not sure why but that’s been my experience. It was never that way with me with Seroquel but other meds that caused sedation have had that affect on me. Having said that I think Seroquel is meant to be good for depression…. But it’s all about how you react to it as an individual and if you find it’s making you depressed then that’s what matters. I was only on the higher doses so that may have been why it was good for my depression… at lower doses it acts as more of an antihistamine from memory which is why it’s good for sleep and I know antihistamines have had a depressive affect on me the next day. Sorry some of this could be wrong - I’m just going by what I remember reading a few years ago. I hope you can find the right balance.
