Have you tried those little foam ear plugs? They're soft. You squeeze them, put them into your ears and then they expand and block out a great deal of sound. I used to use them for sleeping because with the foam earplugs, all I could hear was my own breathing. Very peaceful. You can walk around with them in your ears too, workers use them to protect their hearing. Give them a try please.
Hopefully this horrible firecracker phase will come to an end. The animals hate firecrackers as well.

Thank you! My cat hates it too. She hides under the couch and I am very worried she could have health issues because she is 11, so older kitty. I am for now wearing headphones all day which is not comfortable but music helps me cancel other noise. Problem is, sometimes, I really crave just silence. Without headphones or those little earpods with music or anything in my ears. I have those giant padded headset for workers in loud conditions but it's not really comfortable because it literally squeezes your head. I tried silicone earplugs which are great but can damage ear if you wear them too often.
What are foam earplugs? Do you have a photo or page with some samples so I can try to buy them? If they are more comfortable than other alternatives, it would help a lot.
I would just like nice, quiet winter, like it was before. These people who do this torture the whole area and no one can do anything about it. I don't understand why though? It's super expensive to buy all those firecrackers, and it's not fun like at all. I mean it's cold and raining, so why? What kind of mindset does this?
