Oh, sorry I came into this thread late. This was about the time I lost my doggie JoGI to old age & my barn kitty (BK) to a coyote & my daughters Soulmate doggie was struggling for his life.
One thing I have learned with dogs is that giving a tablespoon of canned pumpkin puree usually helps with any digestion issues. Also, when they lose weight, a high protein diet is good UNLESS they have kidney issues.
The last 4 1/2 years I have been caregiver to 4 elderly doggies & my very sick horse I lost over a year ago. I have to admit I am exhausted & need a break from care giving but for me it is all part of the committment to my fur babies lives.
Vet care is expensive. Just finished paying the vet bill for my horse. I do like Care Credit because they will give 6 - 12 months without interest to pay them off. I am helping my daughter with her vet bill for her fur baby she lost the day after Thanksgiving. The equine hospital gave Care Credit the ok for 12 months to pay. Same amount for the ER vet for my daughter only ok'ed for 6 months. My daughter had medical insurance on her baby so I am covering the rest. Vet costs are high.....& the care required by us can be intense & time consuming too.
