Your wife might have suggested this but from the deeper issues in the relationship, it is surprising how you instantly believed this would fix your relationship and jumped to it. Worse, you say you did this for your wife?? I would not be surprised your wife would see this as you not being invested in the relationship. Instead of working on the dynamic between the 2 of you, you were ready to bring in a 3rd party.
