You might be on to something.
But then again I had doctors appointment yesterday and they had a peaceful animal snow on tv at a quiet volume. I’ve been with this doc many years and he never blasts loud dumb stuff. Always something not bothersome and quiet. My dentist office plays smooth jazz quietly. She often asks how people like the music so she knows if it’s not bothersome. But now I start thinking both these doctors are immigrants, (from completely different sides of the world) so that’s maybe why “American way” doesn’t apply to them?
Also US is so very diverse. I live in a very diverse area and every few miles there’s a different culture and life style. Before getting to this place to replace my windshield I was at my dealership doing some other things and there was nothing blasting. I mean they had TV there but it wasn’t loud or obnoxious. So it might be somewhat cultural too even within American way.
Overall I find constant tv on bothersome. I only turn tv on when I plan on sitting down watching a particular show or movie. I once was doing door to door political canvassing with a colleague. It was about noon on Sunday. Every person had tv on. I commented and she didn’t understand why I was so surprised. She said it’s normal. Not normal for me. Then again she is US born. But so is my husband but he’s not blasting tv all day. So I tend to think it’s life style or something not just American in general.
