Taking time to do what make us feel better, daily, even if we dont feel like it...I remember talking to someone here about looking at socializing for mental health in this way. I may not feel like doing it, but I'm usually glad I did it and it improves my mood and mental health. And looking at it as a necessary thing, like taking medication daily, to improve life quality and mental health.
I was feeling pretty low earlier and I told myself I'd let myself knit, then do some dishes. Both of these activities (knitting and doing dishes) improved my mood.
I had more energy for knitting than dishes, but I did find that my improved mood from helped me to get going with the dishes. I was also thinking it's a bit like the DBT concept opposite action.
