Speaking of confused plants, I'm about to have a golden carpet of daffodils in the little garden space in front of my cottage. Thankfully they are sheltered enough that they will be protected if it freezes again once they bloom.

Betty (the orchid) gave me one last bloom towards the end of December and it has just now withered away. There are no other buds waiting in the wings so I think she's finished for this go round. She's not looking too hot right now, and I'm hoping that she hasn't literally bloomed herself to death (if that's possible), but boy oh boy, what a show she gave me all of last year!
