I think that hyperthyroid meds for cats can be given as topical, a gel or cream that goes in the ear. I looked into it when they thought my cat had it but she didn't. I've used the topical meds otherwise with great success when there was no way I was getting a pill into the cat. (In fact I'm not sure that I could ever get a pill into a cat although I guess I'd figure it out if i had to). But the topical approach is so much easier; they don't even notice.
