You spelled placated right. It's one of my favorite words! But the correct grammar is "could have placated", not "could of". Or "could've", using the - oh what is it called? The contraction, thats it! - which SOUNDS like "could of", thats what confuses everybody. I bet 90 percent of americans think its of, not 've. Dont be learning bad habits from us!
