I recently ran across an employment ad looking for programmers for a tech company called Mentalyc. This app allows therapists to upload an audio recording of a session and then uses AI to generate notes for the therapist that they then have to sign off on and do whatever they do with their notes. Despite how laughably little they were wanting to pay a senior developer, which seems like an issue in itself, what do you think about this? Would you be okay with your therapist recording your session and then uploading it to a 3rd party company? You can google the company name if you want to see an example of the notes it creates and watch some promotional videos about the product.

Personally, I don't think I would be okay with something like this. I wouldn't want a recording of my sessions for starters. I feel like I would be inhibited knowing that I was being recorded. I would also have privacy concerns. Are there assurances that the recording is destroyed after it's analyzed? My first thought was also that it was kind of lazy on the therapist's part to not write notes, but maybe I'm being a little short-sighted about that part of it. I'm not sure why they need such detailed notes in the first place. I'm curious what you all think of this use of technology.
