Seeing a pdoc for the first time is always a bit scary but the first appointment is usually just really an intake assessment where they want to know your history, what's going on, and try to figure out if meds will help you. Some pdocs do do therapy, others are purely meds management. I'm lucky my pdoc does both so I see her once a month for an hour and we talk about how things are going, as well as how I'm reacting to my meds.
You might want to try to find a Pdoc and or a T who specialize in trauma. Both of mine do, and that's been incredibly helpful to me.
