In short, you start small, and you do kill a lot of plants at first, but you learn about one plant or one type of plant, and then get familiar, and then add on to knowledge. I started with succulents, and learned enough about succulents that I moved on to perennials, but while caring for plants I learned about the effects of weather, different soil, temperature, and the proper use of water and drainage.

But I started caring for plants in high school and killed all my plants from neglect or over-watering. Since I've been on my own, I've really been enjoying gardening.

You can be like my mom who can care for two plants and that's it, or you can learn to grow a garden with all different kinds of plants. My garden is fairly simple, succulents and perennials and most are in pots, and what can be complicated about my garden is I live in a coastal town where the weather can be very tricky. I just love my plants!
