Laura, I have found myself wondering this exact same thing so many times over the years. And if you can find the answer, let me know and together we'll heal the world. Some people have chemical imbalances and their brains don't function properly. But that only accounts for a few. I wish I could answer this... I really do. I hope you feel better soon Laura.
