I was trying to explain to another member of a different forum when trigger warnings are needed, i not sure if i got it right

I told them trigger warnings are appropriate when they are discussing physical violences, rape, etc, stuff that can be a serious trigger, cause apparently they dont get triggered by anything

Am i getting it right, what trigger warnings are meant to be used for? Or did i tell them wrong?
