Mixed bag these past few days!

On the positive, I've finally got rid of the wound vac and not a moment too soon! The dressing was too bulky and after six days on (they wanted to run the vacuum battery out), it was starting to get ripe. After I got rid of the dressing and had a proper shower, I got a good look at the incision. Three inches with staples that will need removing, but everything there seems to be healing nicely.

On the minus, I had to visit the ER to try and address the GI symptoms. In short, I don't think my GI system "restarted" after the surgery and drinking Ensure all the time was getting old. The ER loaded me up with fluids and a med designed to get those GI muscles back to work. They also helped me with the throat pain and trouble swallowing by prescribing some lidocaine I can mix with Mylanta (or equivalent). All that thrown together and I was finally able to eat a small meal without nausea, pain, trouble swallowing, etc. Here's hoping it lasts! Here's hoping no more grief until the surgeon followup on Monday.
