My doc took me off the Zyprexa for this reason and the weight gain (8 pounds in one week! Yikes!) She put me on a different antipsychotic that she said showed a low risk of weight gain in the clinical trials - Invega? I guess it's a newer drug, made from Risperdal. I'm on a low dose, she says it's the "glue" I need to keep things together for a while.

So far so good, except I can't sleep at all. Got 3 hours last night, and it's currently midnight and I am not tired at all. That part....not a good sign. But I did manage to eat much less today without the constant urge to eat like on Zyprexa. And the increased energy allowed me to go for a 6 mile nature hike with my dog!! That is not me!! But I'm sure the sunshine and exercise will be good for me, even if the energy came from what may be mania.
