Metformin has not helped me lose weight (Ozempic helped with that) but I still take it. I probably will take it for the rest of my life.

Metformin is now a hot commodity because it is considered a longevity medication and people without metabolic trouble are taking it to extend their lives. There are online doctors and pharmacies set up for nothing other than prescribe metformin.

I have looked into research briefly and it appears that the utility for people without metabolic trouble has not been proven but if you are overweight, it definitely helps with longevity. So, take it if you do not develop side effects to it, even if you do not lose weight.

It is also dirt cheap, even without insurance, and is one of the most studied medications out there, having been prescribed for 100 years.
