Hi @Mi Amor this is a good question. I can only answer from my own experience.

To me telling what is the cause of the emotion does not matter as much as how do I manage the emotion. For example, I see and am aware that thoughts of irritation are arising in my mind and I am aware that last time I did this I had an angry outburst. I go into defensive mode and do not let these thoughts grab control. I can follow my breath, excuse myself and leave the room or ask something different. What really matters to me is I find a way to avoid the angry outburst.

Hope that offers another viewpoint. Of course if a therapist and you were working together, they might give you a precise answer, but to me the problem is not what caused it but how do I manage it so I do not self destruct and wreck my relationships with people. @CANDC
