I agree that "confronting" on his thoughts is not a good idea. That would be like telling me that Bush isn't president, when I know darn well he is. I might think you are tricking me, or just not understanding what I know to be fact.

These sorts of ideas can sometimes get people into difficulties, since eventually some grumpy person may decide to explain "forcefully" that he is NOT God. So, imho, it would be a good idea to have him get professional help asap.
