They do get a lot of abuse from customers. There’s no way to know really what he was thinking. If you were frantic and panicking, maybe he felt threatened. Who knows

I don’t know if you could request English proficient driver. Also who is going to determine level of proficiency? What sounds like a terrible English to you might sound just fine to me. This is a country of immigrants.
