Ok, here's my spin on it.

I don't think we have much power to change the oil industry, at least not quickly enough to make a difference within the next few years. But what I see coming down the pike is that we all have to change our lifestyles, even if just a little bit.

Imagine the population of folks (like myself) who are overweight and eat too much junkfood or fastfood or are just too lazy to walk down to the corner market to buy a gallon of milk (which by the way is pretty dang expensive these days too). Given the price of oil/gas, we all decide to take that walk instead of getting in our car and driving....wow, excercise.....less gas usage = loosing weight/being healthier! Hmmm, something to think about?

Bringing the demand for gas down/exercising/healthier lifestyle/less demand for medication and hospitalization/lower insurance costs/more people having their own gardens/less auto accidents due to less cars on the roads/removing ourselves from the "bigger is better" and "more is better" train of thought in vehicles etc./ a slowing down of the rat race pace we now live/less stress/back to basics. Do ya get my drift here???

This won't happen overnight....people will fight tooth and nail to keep the status quo....but hey, something has got to give here pretty soon, why not start thinking about the good things that can come from this situation? I don't think it's really all doom and gloom folks
