There is a lot of money being made in the processing of oil all the way around. It is not the greedy oil company making the most. That being said, I don't plan on making any lifestyle changes. I will still travel and spend like I always have. I don't eat fast food or at restaurants. I buy local organic products and I ride a bicycle for pleasure and exercize not for transportation.
I have no plans to give up my RV or my F150 4X4 gas guzzeler. I commute in a car that gets 38mpg. I have managable debt and I refuse to participate in the doom and gloom that permiates our country. I have lived this way for years and don't need to make adjustments for economic reasons. The problem is so many people carry such hugh debt and live on the edge that when hard times come they don't know how to adjust.
I was homeless twice in my life and I had a wife and 2 kids at the time. We lived in the car on a campground and in a dinky motel room during those times but, we made it by pure determination and unfaltering hope that things will get better. It is easy to say things will get better when you are at the bottom. Everytime something bad happened I said, well, now we have nowhere to go but up. So, up we went, it was a struggle but we did it and then I determined that it would never happen again.
I got a good job, I can't stand it sometimes but it is a good one. I learned to live on less than I made. I learned to put some away for another day. I drove cars until they went to the junk yard. Still do. I planned for the unexpected.
Today, I don't like the high prices of gas, food, and any other activity in my daily life as well as utilities and property taxes. I learned to invest my money on a regular basis in established companies and in energy. I stash every extra dollar in my retirement fund. I don't live like a pauper but, I can tell you this, I don't go to movies, or buy DVD's, I use the library instead of buying books. I buy in bulk and plan meals. I don't own fancy furniture or designer clothes and shoes.
I work 2 jobs at 55 hour per week total. I am saying this to let some know that ther eis still hope, we live in the greatest country in the world, IMO and the opportunities are endless. Don't fall into the hopelessness that is all around us. There is hope and it comes when you believe it.
Thanks for letting me rant,
Eric
