Unfortunatly our politicians are more interested in theatrics on CNN and cosmetics (Ethanol aka Corn Liquor) than actually solving this problem. In the end it is the marketplace that will have to innovate, economic power is a far greater force than political power, voting with the dollars matters the most. One reason I support Honda and Toyota as companies is because they have invested the most in fuel efficient Hybrid Cars, and alternatives such as Hydrogen Fuel cells. I also patronize busineses that specifically puchase "green" energy and recycle as much as possible.

The energy issue has no quick fixes. We as entire society are going to have to pull together to push for new technology and end to fossil fuel dependence.

We must prepare to restructure everything we do and everything we are to [prepare for the world our children will face. Energy independce would be one of several steps we must take to ensure our survival as a civilization. There are others as well, but it would be too controversial for this post to go into that.
