My mom fell today getting ready. Nothing needing an ambulance, thank goodness, but it was serious enough she didn't feel comfortable coming to town for Sunday service. She's taking it easy today.
I went ahead and went to Sunday service alone. They're starting the process of selecting a replacement for the previous pastor (and my late friend). Still a bit in the "unreal" stage. After service, they had me fill out a survey that was basically a "What are you looking for in a pastor?" form.
Without getting too deep into bylaws, the deacons pick the candidates and the church members vote for them with a 2/3 majority required. Luckily, I should still have membership by virtue of meeting my mom each Sunday for services. Call me entitled, but 20 years of friendship should grant me a say and a vote in who fills his role.

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
