Now the Southwest is having something that has not happened in 84 years. We don't get tropical storms, mostly fires and heat. Some places are closed, National Guard is on standby, local officials are "ready" (sure they are), the Navy has moved their ships away from San Diego, weather alerts pop up my phone, TV, and radio, some grocery stores have bare shelves, events have been cancelled.....

It's almost like 2020 in some ways, with the officials telling us to stay home and stay off the roads unless really necessary to be out. Year's worth of rain in just one day in some places.

Well if that's not impressive or newsworthy, I don't know what is.
very unusual. I lived in So. Calif for 54 years & we NEVER had a tropical storm. Sounds like it is mostly going to be flooding rain (very dangerous) & strong winds maybe in the mountains.

Hope everyone is safe through this very unusual storm.

I chuckle a bit about the grocery store empty shelves. They do that in winter here in Ky when a snow storm is predicted. If qe are lucky it amounts to maybe 1/2 in. of snow but everyone has milk, bread & toilet paper & a thankful heart they didn't NEED what they stocked up on
