> The answer is not biking, walking or, taking mass transportation, the American people won't live that way and I won't live that way. Conservation is good and necessary and I do what I can but, to ask me to give up a lifestyle I strive all my life for is to ask way too much. Everyone can and should do what their conscience dictates, but to try and force or berate someone into doing what you think is necessary is totally wrong. We live in a free country, at least for now, and people have the right to live it without harassment from those that think differently.
THat attitude epitomizes most of what people find disgusting, revolting, comdemnable and contemptable about the 'american dream' and about the 'american way of life'. I want to do what i want to do and %#@&#! everyone else. I want to do what I want to do and if other people suffer as a consequence who gives a %#@&#!? Who cares about global warming, who cares about the people dying while we get involved with wars over the pretense of this and that but really - its about preserving the american dream. And people wonder what the political statement in bombing the twin towers was supposed to be... Are you for real?????
there aren't enough resources to go around so that everyone can live a lifestyle that fits with the 'american dream'. there aren't. so... what makes you so damn special just because you were born there? and that isn't even beginning on the people in the US who are living on the streets in their cardbord boxes so that you can have your fancy car and so that people can buy those magazines in order to salivate over and aspire to being just as anorexic as the majority of models in CA with a million dollar mansion and a private jet. and what makes you so damn arrogant that you will preserve your way of life and aspire to that way of life while other people starve to death and die of preventable diseases and lose their home as the seas encroach...
Do you really believe that those different ways of life are simply unconnected? How... Ignorant.
there are alternatives to oil. have been for a while now. but people are too worried abotu their masculinity to drive a smaller car with a little less grunt.
