Your gramma doesn't live with the trauma day in and day out like you do, and she probably just can't know how it affects you...it doesn't affect her that way (upsetting her entire life.) As she ages, she will know less and less, too.
Maybe she's always been ignorant of such things? Some people just don't have the capacity to believe horrible things.
