Just want you to know that I hear you and I understand the fear and frustration. Have you thought of OA? I found it helped. I use the MyFitnessPal (free version) to count calories. I have lost over 20 lbs since last January but I have at least 40 more pounds to lose.
Also, strength training is something I find essential for weight loss - much better than aerobic exercise. Increasing your muscle mass increases your metabolism. I also find it easier to make myself go the gym and use the machines - I don't sweat much doing strength training. I work out at home too but I find the gym much better due to the variety of machines.
