Plus it's nice to have the windows closed and not hear noises from the outside. Although the only drawback is being alone for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day (which is my birthday).

Yeah, it's that cat replying again. I don't actually go in this forum directly but was randomly clicking and I wound up here.
I have mixed feelings: I don't like that it gets dark so early, BUT it has some upside to it: People in my building are quieter, I guess because it gets dark fast. And they have their windows closed, so I don't get the noise I get in the spring and summer. And my neighbors have parties and visitors more in the hotter months, except for the holidays.
And I like to also burn (scented) candles, as it does feel cozy. If it's cold, people definitely keep their windows and doors closed. I don't want to hear them. I don't like the heat, so when the weather cools I like that. (Gee, Will, are you a male version of me or what? Same decade in age, raised by the same generation, and same personality type)
So I guess, Emily, I like some things about this time of the year (except the holidays), but when I was much younger I didn't like the shorter days at all. Sometimes I want the day to end, and it feels like it ended when it gets dark. It can feel like bedtime, so sometimes the evening drags. It depends. I do feel I get SAD, I'm glad it has an official name and is recognized now. I'm not a night person anyway, so when the sun goes down, I'm done for the day too.
