It's terrible to know where the number 65 came from. It was made the minimum age because back then people didn't likely even live to that age! Now that people are living longer.....
The GOP doesn't believe in the government helping anyone. They have claimed that the churches should do that. Guess what? Many churches are mainly attended by older people. The Democrats are doing their best to try to help us, but they do need to make some changes, given the monetary situation.
Younger people do pay the SS for older people, just like we did when we were younger. It's not like there's a bank box that contains the money for each person, and that money gets paid to us at the SS age. So, I think it's fewer younger people AND people living longer.
