Good points. All all the exploring with newer technology costs money, so why spend it unless you're sure there's something worth looking for? People want to be sure, not just say it's probably not real.
Being scared to death is a good reason not to get too close. I mean you see something and don't know what to make of it. It's strange so the survival instinct kicks in....you keep your distance.
Come to think of it, we don't know about EVERYTHING that's out there---in the woods or deep in the ocean. The ocean is miles deep in some places, and we don't have anything that can withstand that pressure. (The Titan is a good example)
