I went to Orangetheory fitness in the morning because we were off work.

15 splat points
132 average HR
153 peak HR

I see the numbers are lower than last time and I did not feel as nearly as tired. Either because this time the workout was in the morning and I was well slept, or because I focused on high incline as instructed by the trainer and only once did high speed (4 mph). Apparently high incline, while hard on the legs, does not make my heart rate go up as nearly as much as high speed. Good to know. But I also did floor exercises with dumbbells until muscle failure, so overall it was a very good workout.

In the evening I did Yin yoga. In one pose, we had to bend sideways while lying on the floor. And my arm instantly reached my knee while the yoga teacher was saying "if you are flexible enough and can reach your knee...". And then I had an insight. The reason I no longer can do so many poses I used to be able to, even though I am hyperflexible, is because my belly is simply in the way. I cannot do the kind of forward bend other class participants are doing because of the belly. But sideways, sure, I can bend sideways no problem.

My new personal trainer said when he did the intake and I told him about being hyperflexible but not being able to do yoga poses anymore that hyperflexibibility, in terms of what joints can do, is pretty much for life, but I might have developed muscle stiffness which gets in the way of doing poses. this may be the case, but I think the simplest reason is mechanical: one cannot bend well over the belly. One just can't.
