I know what you mean.....I walk outside to give my doggies a potty walk & get sidetracked doing weeding without thinking about the sunburn I am getting......I am very fair skinned & always layed in the sun when I was a kid to try I get a tan. Luckily nothing happened .

When I was working, I thought that a tanning salon would be a good thing as then I would already have a start on a tan & wouldn't burn when I got in the sun.....WRONG. Not only that, but I got a sore on the corner of my lip & went to a dermatologist.......it wasn't skin cancer but he said it could have turned into it had I not taken care of it early.

I got sun poisoning also once when i was snow skiing. It was a warm spring day & I didn't bother wearing a cap as it was too hot......the top of my head got burnt...& my face got so swollen, my eyes were swollen shut......when I went to work after that weekend....everyone thought I had gotten beaten up......so all I could say was you should have seen the other guy.

Skin cancer isn't anything to play around with either.....I don't know if that was the start of the cancer my Mother died from, but she had a skin cancer removed from her abdomin many years earlier. When she was 79, she was diagnosed with vulvar cancer.....it was squamous cell cancer....a type of skin cancer......seems as though a stray cell that wasn't removed years earlier....one never knows about cancer cells & how they travel through the body.

It is much better to be safe than sorry.....beyond just the pain of the sunburn.
