I would say "fortunate" rather than wasting more time is a "nothing" relationship. I left my marriage after 33 wasted years & wished I had listened to myself earlier & gotten out then.
My starting over is just taking care of my life the way I want it to run & I am not wanting anyone else involved to complicate it. Doing well for 16 years & I have 10+ acres of land I own & am taking care of now. Sometimes life is better with no one else involved at a close level but I had to sort issues out that all those years caused & when I did, being in control of my own life won
