I guess it depends on the reading age you’d prefer…

For younger age I’d suggest anything by Shirley Hughes, especially the Alfie books. The illustrations are so charming and detailed.

A little older and Roald Dahl is fun, especially Danny Champion of the World.

The Lemony Snicket Unfortunate Series of events is a great series, full of quirkiness and mystery.

And of course any Harry Potter is a riveting read.
