My husband served during the first golf war. He suffers from a bad head injury, he broke his neck and back it left him with a paralyzed arm. He has a drug addiction to pain meds, although he would beg to differ. His family doctor prescribes them so he think he needs them. I know he should have a pain manager. I don't want to leave him. Leaving is not an option. I want to help him get better. Although it seems like he doesn't want to get better. He does has VA benefits and goes to the va hospital regularly. Is there anything I can do to make him get proper help. The family doctor that prescribes these meds is not affiliated with the VA. I can deal with the nightly delusions and his obsession with knives and war movies but his mental instability is getting worse not better. I don't know much about PTS or how long it should last. Is it normal for him to sleep walk and talk as if he was awake or is that a symptom of something else. He is verbally abusive to me and my oldes son (from a previous marriage).
