My friend retired her first guide dog last year & spent between Thanksgiving & Christmas training with her new one. They are truly amazing dogs. Her training had a day in NYC doing the subways & all the city busyness. From my observation it still take time for the dogs to adapt to all the help they can be for their new owners & that level does develop over the years as the connection grows to amazing levels
