These days you have the internet and web cams that will help you keep your relationship current. Another thing that we did, and perhaps your son will allow it too, is we let my parents take our children for a couple months in the summer. They both really loved that one on one time.

When we moved back to our hometown area, minutes away from my parents, our eldest son asked the last day of school “don’t we get to go on vacation at Nana and Papa’s this summer?” So we all ended up staying at my parents every weekend.

When my husband’s job took us several hours away, the kids were right back to staying at Nana and Papa’s for the summer. When hubby and I would go up on the weekends to visit, they were very put out, this was THEIR time with Nana and Papa.

Our babies are 15, and this is the first year that they will not be going up to stay with my mom for the summer.
