Or the "ignore thread" feature can be used, under ignore options. The only caveat is that it still shows up in the main index list of forums.

Since everyone's idea of "old" is different, it's a tough call.

And for me personally, the dates are so tiny they are hard to see, even with my glasses and especially on a phone, which is what I have to use mostly. I focus on content and thread titles, not dates. If I see something I want to post in, I do so.

I could think of dozens of scenarios, such as the OP not being active for months or even years, but since the "post reply" button is there, someone will post in it. Hence, active again but maybe the OP has no clue. But others see it, which may or may not be good....it all depends on the member.
