I guess that would depend on what you class as a functioning member of society? People can be that in many different ways, not just paid work.
It sounds like you’re struggling with feeling like you don’t fit in, is that right? I’ve felt that before, it’s a horrible feeling, but it isn’t necessarily going to be that way forever, although it might feel like that.
