How about if you don't give your heart away before truly getting to know someone & only if they are worthy & if they find you worthy do you bother to get involved with them to that level. Means learning emotional self control & being observant of other people not blindly thinking people are worthy of even being friends when they aren't.
Usually therapists can help people develop a batter emotional maturity if one truly wants it
