The first thing I thought of reading this (I read it all) was attachment theory. I guess you’ll have heard of it. It’s a very heavy burden to bear to be rejected by parents, it can impact in so many ways.

It’s not your fault in any way or form. But it’s possible the current ex may well have felt ‘right’ for the wrong reasons (your parents) if that makes any sense.
