Sighs drama from the party I didn’t even want to go to:

Someone organised a party where we all chipped in to come. 35 people. My friend who was involved in helping told me there was over £1000 left over which all went into one person’s bank account. My friend asked me not to name her.

I messaged in the group asking for a breakdown of costs. Saying if there was any money left over, it should be shared out equally between us.

The person said only £15-20 was left over. That she donated that amount.

I asked for proof of the donation. One person chimed in that if I had a problem I should not have come. Another that it was non refundable. I said I was not trying to return any item or service- just asking for transparency.

I did not make any accusations just asked for a breakdown of the costs involved, bearing in mind we were not paying London prices, so everything was generally cheaper.

Was it wrong of me to ask? Would you have left it like my mother told me to do?

Over this past year I know that I have become quite vocal in voicing my opinions, after years of staying silent. Should I have showed restraint?
