Hmm... If I get an email that:
1) Isn't from someone I know
2) Isn't an education address (.edu or whatever)
3) Doesn't have a clear statement in the subject header which suggests it is a legitimate 'introducing myself' and query...
Then I don't open the email. Just send it straight to the trash.
Sometimes they get a read receipt when you open the email at which point they know you have a legit email address and so then... No holds barred let the spamming begin. I've been pretty lucky with not getting much spam, really... If it is legit and I trash it (happens sometimes) then people tend to resend with a clearer header second time round...
At the moment my biggest source of spam is Amazon... Wonder if I can stop them reccomending %#@&#!???
