The blue dot and where it says "no icon" - that is just to select one of the icons from that box FOR THE TITLE OF THE POST. Most people dont bother.

You put regular smilies in your text by leaving your cursor at the end of a sentence, then either typing
A smilie or clicking on one in the SIDE box.
