In one of my large facebook women's groups, a mother posted a question about the best way to proceed for her daughter, age 18 I think, who wants all hair eliminated from her body. So people discussed electrolysis vs laser. The mother herself who posted it was a little surprised since she personally had always found shaving enough. This is just one datapoint, though. From what I can tell, no, it has not grown out of vogue but rather become so commonplace that people no longer talk about it.

It also is one of the things that come into and grow out of Vogue. Read the account of how Dalida (that famous singer) was found dead having just received that service. People speculate that based on that, she must have been murdered and must not have committed suicide.

I think there are also cross-cultural differences as I rarely see Asian women (inside gym/swimming pool locker rooms) without pubic hair. In that same facebook women's group I mentioned above in this post, one woman who was not Chinese wrote that in China, having no pubic hair is associated with being a prostitute. That is why, the hypothesis goes, most women keep their pubic hair intact. I have no idea if this is true, but my observation that Asian women tend to keep their pubic hair has been consistent over a number of years.
