Ok, do small bits of it first. Don't bite off the whole job at once. Square away the first part you need done... maybe your healthy eating could begin now, if you aren't already?
Sit ups are good, if not done the old way. That proved to weaken stomach muscles!

But a bent knee "crunch" is better. Children that age can have fun doing "exercises" with mommy! Maybe get them some plastic dumb bells to work out with, or exercise outfits...etc and special fruit drinks or something for the after workout treat!
Oh, if you modify the sit up, and as you come up towards the ceiling, slightly turn your elbow inward, you will work your abs too.
By cues I was thinking of motivating words, or pictures, a list works too.
