That’s an impressive career - well done. I’m trying to imagine all of the young people you will have helped over that length of time. You’ve certainly earned your retirement.

I was lucky enough to be able to retire in January, and I just can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. I don’t miss the work, but I do miss the people - even though I still see them reasonably regularly as most of them were friends as well as colleagues.

The one thing that did surprise me is that I’ve still had to work hard to sustain good mental health. More time on my hands has sometimes turned into more time to focus on negative thought patterns - especially around health anxiety and getting older. That said, i don’t regret the decision.
