Hi Finn and welcome to the Forums. It is very nice to meet you.
I'm sorry that you are in the situation you describe. Sounds painful and distressing!
The brain undergoes profound changes during the teenage years and can powerfully influence us. Even in adults, the brain can have a mind of its own sometimes.
Part of being a parent is helping a child through the profound changes that occur during the teenage years. It is not a burden. Are you close with your parents?
Can you talk to a school counselor about what you are going through?
It is good that you called 988 and I hope you will call them again when you find yourself in over your head or that things are spiraling out of control.
Although none of us here on the Forums are psychotherapists or health professionals, we are here for you to lean on when you are feeling bad.
I must apologize for my response to you. Since I am not in your shoes and do not know all the details of your situations, it is easy to misunderstand.
Would you feel comfortable to give us more details about your situation? I don't know if that would be helpful to you or us, but maybe it would help.
Sorry again that you are suffering. My heart goes out to you as I am going through some pretty rough stuff myself right now.
