@MuddyBoots, I recall teasing a tech journalist once that everything he writes ends up lining a bird cage or cat box. BTW, I've found that shredded newspaper makes a decent fill for a litter box (in an emergency), although it has to be changed very often.

@lizardlady, we don't use the fireplace any more. Besides we get enough junk mail, and we have plenty of old financial records, that I think I'd have plenty of kindling.

@DocJohn, our delivery guy is amazingly reliable, and he delivers the NY Times (and probably other Tribune papers, as well).

I'd be happy giving a recurring donation to the CT Mirror and AP, even though they provide free access. I'm also a sustaining member of our local NPR. I admire that "pay what you can" business model. But, my wife and I like hard copy. She's confused by technology and annoyed by having to charge devices. And I use a computer for work, so I'm not thrilled with using one to get news.
