MuddyBoots, I recall teasing a tech journalist once that everything he writes ends up lining a bird cage or cat box.

BTW, I've found that shredded newspaper makes a decent fill for a litter box (in an emergency), although it has to be changed very often.

lizardlady, we don't use the fireplace any more. Besides we get enough junk mail, and we have plenty of old financial records, that I think I'd have plenty of kindling.

DocJohn, our delivery guy is amazingly reliable, and he delivers the NY Times (and probably other Tribune papers, as well).
I'd be happy giving a recurring donation to the CT Mirror and AP, even though they provide free access. I'm also a sustaining member of our local NPR. I admire that "pay what you can" business model. But, my wife and I like hard copy. She's confused by technology and annoyed by having to charge devices. And I use a computer for work, so I'm not thrilled with using one to get news.
